Instructions:

1. Mix 1 tbsp flour, crumbled yeast and 1 tsp sugar. Add 3-4 tbsp lukewarm water and stir to form a damp. Let it rise for about 15 minutes until the mixture starts to bubble.

Mix the remaining flour, sugar, vanilla sugar, crushed spices and salt in a baking bowl. Heat milk and butter in flakes in a saucepan until butter is melted. Gradually add eggs and milk, kneading throughout with the dough hook of a mixer (or in a food processor).

Continue kneading with your hands until a smooth dough is formed into a ball. Cover and place in a warm place to rise (the dough should be significantly larger).

Form 4 patties from the dough. Decorate if necessary or press the egg shell into the dough (see tip). Brush the patties with milk and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Place the patties on a baking tray and bake in a heated oven at 180 °C , convection oven at 160 °C , gas mark 3 for about 25 – half an hour. 5.

Cool on a cooling rack and serve fresh with butter and honey.

Tip: If you want to put boiled, colored eggs in the flatbread, press half an egg shell into the unbaked dough, remove it after baking and put the colored egg in the bulge instead.
