Instructions:

Heat the butter (1) in a coated pan. Sauté the onions in it for five minutes, turning frequently, until soft.

Set aside.

Spread a thin layer of butter (2) on one side of the bread slices. Place this side down on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or possibly in a baking dish.

Mix cheese and chives. Add onions, egg yolks and cream, mix well and season with herb salt and pepper.

Immediately before baking the cheese slices, whip egg whites with herb salt until stiff. Fold into the cheese mixture and spread evenly over the bread slices.

Bake the cheese slices on the spot in the middle of the oven heated to 220 degrees until the cheese melts and turns slightly golden brown – eight to ten min.

For one person, based on the recipe for four people: quarter ingredients, add 1_yolk and 2_scoop of cream, do not use egg whites for this.

Our tip: As an alternative to fresh herbs, you can use frozen ones – they are also characterized by a fresh taste!
