Peel potatoes and cut into 0.5 cm thick slices, cut bacon into thin slices, fry in a little frying fat. Grease an ovenproof dish with butter and place potatoes and bacon in layers, whisk whipping cream, beer, egg, salt and pepper and pour over potatoes. Sprinkle with breadcrumbs, butter flakes and possibly onion rings and bake in the oven for about 30 minutes.
