For the spicy sardines, wash the sardines, pat dry and season with salt and pepper. Drizzle a little lemon juice over them and dust lightly with flour. Heat a good 2/3 of the oil in a deep pan and fry the sardines in it for about 8-10 minutes on both sides. Remove from pan and keep warm.

Peel onion, cut into strips. Remove seeds from peppers, wash, cut into strips. Stone olives and cut into quarters. Peel garlic and press through a press.

Heat remaining oil. Sauté onion, peppers and olives in it for 5-8 minutes, season with garlic, salt, bell pepper, parsley and oregano. Spread on the sardines and serve with focaccia bread.
